As we celebrate Women’s History Month this March, we honor all the contributions and achievements of women who have made a difference in history and all the women in our communities right now who are working toward creating a more equitable, just, and kind world.
We encourage you to join us in recognizing the impact women have made in our society with these 7 small but impactful kind acts below:
1) Celebrate the women in your life
Start with recognizing the women in your home, school, work, or community. You can send letters of appreciation, bake yummy goods, or give a small present to your female colleagues, friends, and family!
2) Become a mentor or join a nonprofit centering girls
Share your skills, life lessons, and kindness with youth by donating just a few hours of your time! Below are just a few programs that offer mentorships to girls:
- Girls Write Now – With a focus on those historically disempowered due to their gender and gender identity, GWN harnesses the power of stories to shape culture, impact industries, and bridge worlds.
- Girls Inc. – This girls’ leadership organization equipping girls to reach their full potential.
- Girls on the Run – This nonprofit organization is dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
- Big Brothers, Big Sisters – Creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
3) Watch this short video about the history of women’s rights
Women throughout history have fought for a kinder and braver world. If this made you feel as inspired as we did, try sharing it with a friend!
4) Engage with art, books, music created by women

5) Shop from women-owned and women-led businesses
Women entrepreneurs are more likely to face barriers than men, such as less access to funding and resources. Supporting their businesses helps close the gender gap and creates more opportunities for women to succeed in your local community and beyond. You can check out this guide to shopping women-owned businesses to get started!
6) Support women’s rights
If you’re looking for ways to help protect gender equality, pay equity, or reproductive rights, remember to vote, call or write your representative, and attend public meetings about these issues. To find more information about these issues, check out organizations like Equality Now and UN Women. If you come from a background of privilege, this can be an especially meaningful act to engage in.
7) Attend an International Women Day event
What better way to celebrate Women’s History Month than by attending an event or service project near you! You can find in-person and virtual events for this month here!
