Celebrating Pride Playlist 2022

June 27, 2022
This story took place in United States

In celebrating pride today and every day, we also invite you to celebrate with these queer artists –  listen to their music, share their songs with your friends, and dance along to their songs!

1) Rebecca Black proudly came out as queer in 2020 and has encouraged her fans to be comfortable with their own sexuality, whatever that may be. About her song “Girlfriend,” she told Paper Magazine, “It feels so good to celebrate queerness, and I hope this song can be a form of that for everyone else when they listen along.”

2)  Kelechi’s Instagram bio says it all: “Your Gay Indie Pop Bestie”- this musician is one to watch with this recent hit, “Just Another Song.” The song, he tells Paper Mag, is “about picking up the pieces of your broken heart by throwing your cares away and dancing like nobody’s watching.”

3) In “I Like That,” Janelle Monae tells the story of sticking out and not blending in with the crowd – a word of wisdom we can all follow. “Being a queer black woman in America … someone who has been in relationships with both men and women — I consider myself to be a free-(love proponent),” she told Rolling Stone Magazine.

4.)  The first of John’;s international Top 10 chart single. “Your Song” is glowing, innocent, and romantic all at the same time. “How wonderful life is while you’re in the world,” he sings – a lyrics that powerfully reminds everyone how important they are.

5) In a stripped down acoustic, Kehlani sings this sweet silky song about her romantic relationship with a woman.  Kehlani, who has long identified as queer, shared in a video last year saying, “I finally know I’m a lesbian,” encouraging fans to also be true to themselves.
