Current Advisory Board member, Roman, has a conversation with a member of Born This Way Foundation’s first ever Advisory Board, Shadille, about the power of letting young people lead. This interview is part of a series on Channel Kindness Radio in which members of Born This Way Foundation’s Advisory Board interview each other about their various experiences, perspectives, and hopes.

Roman Sidig (he/him/his) was born and raised in Germany, is of Afghan descent and a student of Political Science and Economics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Next to his studies, Roman is deeply passionate about children’s rights as a volunteer for the United Nations Children’s Fund as a child right activist in Munich and also Member of the Advisory Board for the German National Committee for UNICEF. With a clear focus on mental health in academia, he serves as primary elected student representative on campus. Roman hopes to make the world a kinder, braver place and eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health – step-by-step – by helping the youth of today advocate for a better tomorrow.

Shadille Estepan (she/her/hers) is Communications and Creative Manager for Born This Way Foundation. In this capacity, Shadille supports the Foundation’s external communications efforts – including video production – as well as the organization’s programming. Shadille has been part of Born This Way Foundation since 2012 when she served as part of the inaugural Youth Advisory Board. Shadille is originally from Miami and she is a graduate of the University of Florida.
