#BeKind21: Be an Anchor in 2020

Today’s #BeKind21 message is brought to you by our partners at Find Your Anchor.

I want to start by sharing a reminder: no act of kindness is too small.

Find Your Anchor (FYA) is a grassroots movement aimed at suicide prevention, awareness, and education. With creativity and a personal touch, FYA aims to support those who may be struggling + de-stigmatize conversations surrounding mental health.

At the heart of Find Your Anchor’s mission is a small blue box. Once referred to as a “mental health first aid kit,” each box is packed with good vibes and materials designed to inspire, soothe, and offer support. This includes a “52+ Reasons to Live” deck of cards, an infographic on depression, a list of resources, posters, stickers, a bracelet, and a letter. The boxes are intended to be organic in the sense that each person can add their own anchors and inspiration to the box before passing it along. Our boxes are in 40 different countries and have been requested by thousands of people.

Kindness is the heart and soul of what we do. We believe that kindness helps promote empathy and personal connection, lessening an individual’s feelings of isolation. By bringing more acts of kindness into the world, we strengthen those bonds of connection, and, as a result, grow our own sense of community and belonging. In these uncertain times, a little humanity goes a long way.

We’re excited to help each and every one of you build acts of kindness into your everyday lives with our gift of the #BeKind21 (printable) cards. Here’s a sneak peek of our cards:

Although no act of kindness is too small, we hope you enjoy these pocket-sized ideas to get you started spreading love.

The goal of the Find Your Anchor movement is suicide prevention, awareness, and education. The premise is that each person needs an anchor. "Establish an anchor — a dependable, stable, secure base that you can hold on to, one that keeps you firmly planted, no matter what winds or storms may come."
