#BeKind21: Find Your Kindness Superpower

September 06, 2020
This story took place in United States

Today’s #BeKind21 message is brought to you by our partners at Bumkins.

“When I was a boy, and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” Mr. Rogers’ famous words about how his mother helped him grapple with distressing events in the news hit home for today’s parents who struggle to explain to their children the devastating reality of COVID-19.

As the world went into lockdown, we steadied ourselves in search of kind people willing and ready to help.

We were struck by the bravery and kindness of the medical heroes who continue to risk their lives to hold the hands of strangers in their final moments, despite lacking the necessary PPE to keep themselves safe from this deadly disease.

Realizing we were in a unique position to help, the Bumkins team enlisted the assistance of our partners and suppliers to acquire medical-grade masks. We were able to donate to medical centers, hospitals, and other care facilities throughout the Phoenix Metropolitan area and outside of Arizona.

We are so honored to help and find compassion in crisis, and our partners remind us there are so many ways to be kind. This is the backbone of our B.Kind mission. Responding to fear, tragedy, and suffering by seeking and supporting people and organizations worldwide serving up kindness on the front line of issues affecting the most vulnerable among us.

Mr. Rogers was right, “To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.”

Your kindness challenge today: Strengthen your resolve by seeking helpers and recognizing your unique kindness superpowers. And help the little ones in your life learn and discover acts of kindness, too, so that they may grow up to become the helpers of tomorrow.

In Kindness,

Bumkins
